Smith Marine Design was started by the late Timm Smith as a way to allow anybody, of any skill level or background, to build their own boat and get out on the water. With the goal being that at the end of the build process, that you should be satisfied with what you have managed to build with your own hands. But most importantly, be able to get out on the water and enjoy yourself on your local oceans and seas or any other body of water near you.

After passing away in 2019 after many years of fighting Multiple Myeloma, a cancer of the plasma cells in the bone marrow. Smith Marine Design has been left to his Wife and Son to continue the business. Though we no longer design new plans or take on new custom design work. We continue to support the existing designs that Timm created over the years. And welcome new builders continue to use Timm’s original designs and enjoy the water as they please.
